Since its launch in November 2022, ChatGPT has been making waves across the globe, revolutionizing the way we interact with AI. However, there was one hiccup: its ‘brain’ was, until recently, frozen in time, with knowledge only up until September 2021. It operated like a time capsule, providing answers and information up to that point.

Finally, almost 10 months post-launch, it’s catching up. Now, it’s training information is extended up to January 2022. I asked ChatGPT 4, “How up-to-date is your training data?” It responded with confirmation that its training now encompasses information up to January 2022.

    Chat GPT Update

To test its updated knowledge, I inquired about notable sports events and their results between September 2021 and January 2022. It accurately recounted the Atlanta Braves' thrilling win over the Houston Astros in November 2021 and was well-aware of the Georgia Bulldogs' triumph over the Alabama Crimson Tide in January 2022.

Here’s its response to my question: “What are the top 5 exciting sports events in the US between September 2021 and January 2022, and what are their results?”

While this update is an advancement in the right direction — candidly, I anticipated more than just an additional four months' worth of knowledge in this update. At the same time, it underscores the immense effort required to train such expansive language models. However, ChatGPT 3.5 still has knowledge only until September 2021, and I expect it to change sometime in the coming weeks.

Experience the update for yourself! And remember, this is just the starting point. The future is brimming with endless possibilities—who knows what the next upgrade will unveil? Keep exploring, keep probing, and let ChatGPT be your companion on this exciting journey of discovery.
